The Urban Centre Property Enhancement Fund provides financial support for improvements to eligible projects in designated areas of Caldicot Town Centre.

The £920k fund is now open and inviting expressions of interest.

The objective of the scheme is to achieve an enhanced and integrated approach to the physical regeneration of the targeted area, reactivating vacant or underutilised commercial space, safeguarding existing businesses and encouraging additional private sector investment.

The scheme is open to owners of property within the eligible boundary or leaseholders with a minimum outstanding lease of 7 years.

Typically, only works to the exterior and curtilage of a building which make a contribution to the enhancement of the targeted area will be considered. However, in exceptional circumstances, internal reconfiguration work that facilitates improved commercial activity and employment can also be considered.

Eligible works can include

  • Roof coverings
  • Windows and doors – including reconfiguration
  • Rain water goods
  • Brickwork, render and cleaning of stonework
  • Repainting in accordance with approved colour schemes
  • Alterations in accordance with the Design Manual
  • Canopies and awnings
  • Disability Discrimination Access improvements

The council will prioritise projects that meet the aspirations of the Town Centre Regeneration programme and commitments made to funding partners on improved premises, safeguarding and creating of jobs etc.

A ‘Design Manual’ has been produced to inform eligible works.

Funding is available for eligible projects that can complete by March 31st 2021, although applications will be considered as they are received. There is therefore no guarantee that funding will be available for the full duration of the funding period

Full Grant documentation will be available shortly, but in the interim, interested parties are invited to contact Sadie Beer, Town Centre Partnership Officer on 07970036191 or via Email SadieBeer@monmouthshire.gov.uk
