How do I know who is standing for Election?
Candidates have until 4pm on the 5th April 2026 to submit their nomination to stand for election. Only after that date will we know who the candidates are.
After this deadline we will publish a notice which provides the details of all the candidates standing in each area.
It is the candidates responsibility to ensure the campaign and get their message out to you. They can do this through leafleting, door knocking, hustings or street stalls in town centres.
Each candidate will have the opportunity to submit an electronic statement following the submission of their nomination. Those that choose to submit the statement will have their details appear online. You can access this information at www.vote.wales. Please note this website is run the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru and is not run by the local authority.
How do I know who has won?
The counting of the votes will take place the day after the poll on the 7 May 2026 and the full result will be available that evening.
Details of the result of the election will be available on the homepage of the Council website once it is declared.
