We’ve reviewed arrangements in Gilwern to ensure it is safe for our communities to return and support our local shops and businesses. A fantastic marketing strategy has already started.

Measures to allow for drop off/collection of orders outside the pharmacy and Bromfields Butchers will be monitored and enhanced if needed. Pinch points at the Village Fish Bar and Londis will be monitored but no changes are currently proposed: double yellow lines will be enforced.

The Council has spoken to Costains and the Welsh Government to seek agreement to temporarily use the Navigation Inn to provide parking for residents and visitors but unfortunately this cannot be agreed.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, the proposed village-wide 20mph zone for Gilwern has been delayed until the 2022/23 financial year.

Four Theta Cycle Hoops will be installed at the village toilets / community centre in coming weeks, with a public bike pump on NCN Route 46.

If you have any feedback or ideas for measures not considered above, please get in touch.  All changes would be part of a trial. We will be seeking live feedback and we will tweak, add to, change or remove measures as appropriate. We will learn quickly and adapt as we go to improve based on feedback. If some of the changes are successful, we will consider making them permanent, following future consultation.
