What is OASIS?
OASIS (Outreach And Support Inclusion Service) is a coordinated team of specialist staff from the Education Support Team (EST) and Monmouthshire’s Specialist Resource Bases (SRBs). OASIS aims to support the Inclusion of pupils in mainstream schools by offering collaborative, specialist support to mainstream schools to develop and enhance good inclusive practice.
Outreach support comes from two different sources depending on the needs identified by the school. The nature of the support is determined by the OASIS panel. This will come from SRB Teachers or EST. Support from SRB Teachers involves an initial school visit and a follow up visit to review progress. These visits typically involve observations and meetings with school staff. Written records are shared.
On occasion support is delivered jointly by SRB Teachers and EST. Information around support from EST is detailed below.
What is EST?
The Education Support Team (EST) is a service made of a specialist lead teacher and three practitioners who work together with schools, children and, where appropriate, parents across Monmouthshire. They work alongside the Vulnerable Learner Lead (VLL).
The EST are a branch of Monmouthshire Outreach and Support Inclusion Service (OASIS). The key purpose of the EST is to work with schools to enhance the inclusion of children in primary school, with a particular focus on those children who are Children Looked After (CLA) and children who are at risk of exclusion.
Schools, usually via the ALNCo (Additional Learning Needs Coordinator) are responsible for gaining the involvement of the EST.
Informed Consent
Permission and signed consent is always sought from parents / carers prior to involvement of the EST.
