The Register Office continues to offer face-to-face appointments to register births and for legal notice appointments, in line with advice in Government policy. Entry into the Register Office will be by appointment only to limit risks to staff and the public and we will be taking some information from you before the appointment by email or telephone in order to reduce appointment times. To arrange entry into the Register Office for any other reason please contact us as below.

There will be a clearly marked one way system around the office and hand sanitisers are available. Unfortunately we will not be able to provide toilet facilities at this time. We will be following Public Health Wales advice to socially distance and avoid all physical contact at all times. These guidelines are in place to keep us all safe, please respect our staff and comply with any requests made to you. We would ask that no children or persons in a high risk group attend our offices, and that attendance is kept to a minimum in any event.

We are unable to provide personal protective equipment for members of the public but please note that you are requested to wear a face mask at all times within the office. If you have a medical exemption to wearing a face-mask please advise us accordingly before your attendance.

If you wish to make an appointment please email us at or ring us on 01873 735435.

We also have an online form where you can contact us about our services.

Marriage and Civil Partnership ceremonies can take place in accordance with Welsh Government and General Register Office advice. These ceremonies will be re-structured to provide maximum safety and protection for staff and members of the public. We will discuss the format in detail with you to ensure that you are happy to proceed on this basis.

Please note that guest numbers for all ceremonies are reduced due to Public Health Wales guidelines. For ceremonies at the Register Office and in the Old Parlour please discuss the current position with us as it is subject to change at short notice as guidelines change. For ceremonies at Approved Premises please liaise with the venue directly.

We are also able to attend Places of Worship to register marriages, provided a detailed risk assessment has been received which ensures the safety of our members of staff. The same applies to Licensed Premises who decide to re-open for ceremonies only from the 1st March 2021.

If you wish to contact us about your ceremony please email us at or call the office on 01873 735435. We are dealing with a large volume of queries on a daily basis so please be patient as we work through them. We are now able to take new bookings however please note that any restrictions in place on the date of your ceremony must be complied with. You may also wish to discuss any restrictions/availability with your venue.

We thank you for your cooperation during this time, please continue to follow Government and PHW advice and look after each-other. With very best wishes, Monmouthshire Registration Service.
