Crafts & Laughs is an ILS (Independent Living Skills) Craft class for adults with a learning disability. Learners develop new skills within a fun, safe and friendly environment whilst being supported to achieve and reach their goals.  Crafts & Laughs reuses and recycles items and materials donated by the public to sell at the local market to enable the group to buy further craft materials and equipment.  This enables learners to see the value of their work when items are sold and allows learners to use skills learnt, such as money handling and greeting customers, in a practical situation.

Learners can try their hand at a variety of crafts such as printing, papier mache, sewing, card making, textiles, rag rugging and paper folding, to name a few. The types of crafts to be tried are agreed as a team at the beginning of the year and the aim is to find a craft that the learner really enjoys and is able to complete independently.

A variety of independent living skills are also developed within the classes such as literacy, numeracy, communication, digital literacy, following instructions, greeting others, teamwork etc.,

The main aim, as the name suggests, is to have fun whilst learning a new skill in a safe and supported environment!
