Due to the current hot weather, our waste collection crews will be starting their rounds earlier than usual.

This change is to help protect the health and safety of our staff, who work in physically demanding conditions and are more at risk during high temperatures.

What this means for you:

  • Collections may take place earlier than you are used to, so putting bins out in advance will help avoid any missed collections.
  • Please ensure your bins are placed out for collection the night before your scheduled day, or no later than 6:00am.

Llanfoist and Five Lanes Reuse Shops are closed this week due to the extreme heat.

All Household Waste Recycling centres will be closed on Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June.

Due to the weather warning, public transport across the county may be affected. Please check before you travel.

Old Wye Bridge, Chepstow
Following advice from specialist engineers, due to the high temperatures, the Old Wye Bridge in Chepstow will be closed from 11am, Tuesday 23 June.

Pedestrians will not be able to cross the bridge.
We apologise for the inconvenience.
This closure follows guidance from specialist engineers, who have advised that the bridge should be closed when temperatures reach 30°C or above, due to its sensitivity to changes in temperature and load.

The bridge will remain closed until Friday, 26 June, when a decision will be made on whether temperatures have lowered enough to reopen.

Our Community Hubs and Libraries will be closed from 1pm on Wednesday 24 June 2026.

Further updates on when the hubs will reopen will be shared as soon as possible
