Many households in Wales rely on heating oil or liquid petroleum gas (LPG) to heat their homes, particularly in rural areas. Rising fuel prices due to the conflict in the Middle East have increased pressure on household budgets.
The UK Government has given the Welsh Government £3.8 million to help households in Wales who rely on heating oil or LPG.
A one off £200 Heating Oil and LPG Payment is now available to low income households in Monmouthshire who heat their homes using heating oil or LPG. This targeted support aims to help people manage these increasing costs.
This page explains what help is available, who can get it and how to apply.
Who is eligible?
You may qualify if:
- You use heating oil or LPG as your main heating fuel, and
- You are living in the property as your main or only home, and

How do I apply?
- The Council will write to households who may be eligible for a payment and invite them to apply
- If you have not received a letter but think you may be eligible for a payment, you can still apply
