Social Care Charging Policy
Financial assessment
If you have been assessed as requiring eligible care from Monmouthshire County Council, as per the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014 (Wales), services are chargeable and you will be requested to undergo a means tested financial assessment to determine your weekly charges towards your care.
If you have been assessed as requiring care within your own home, we will invite you to undertake a means tested financial assessment and if you:
- have capital over £24,000 or
- choose to not undergo a financial assessment
you will be expected to pay the full cost of your care up to a maximum of £100 per week.
If you have been assessed as requiring a care home placement, we will request you undertake a means tested financial assessment and if you:
- have capital over £50,000 or
- choose to not undergo a financial assessment
you will be expected to pay the full cost of your care.
