Placemaking is about creating places where people want to live, work, visit and spend time in. It’s a way of thinking that puts people at the heart of planning decisions, making sure that new developments and improvements to existing areas help communities thrive.
Placemaking plans are strategic documents for a town or city, developed collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, which set out a vision for that place, consider the challenges and opportunities it faces, and propose actions and interventions to realise the vision and address the identified challenges and opportunities. A prerequisite of Welsh Government Transforming Towns funding for town centre regeneration is that appropriate placemaking plans are in place or being developed.
