In Wales, landlords and agents who undertake letting and management work at rental properties are legally required to have a Rent Smart Wales licence, ensuring that they are suitable and appropriately trained in their rights and obligations. Registration is through Rent Smart Wales, please click on the link for more information – Welcome to Rent Smart Wales – Rent Smart Wales (gov.wales)

Landlords who are not involved in setting up tenancies and managing their rental properties do not need a licence.  However, they must use a licensed agent and register as a landlord declaring their agent on the registration.

Registration is not a requirement if you come on to our Private Leasing Scheme or Leasing Scheme Wales. You would be required to be registered if you have a managed let through us. We are able to advise and support you on this.

The Rent Smart Wales Website has a lot of useful information for Landlords; including a public register of licensed landlords and properties, frequently asked questions and an abundance of useful guides and downloads.
