Some residents in Monmouthshire will have a change of waste collection day from Monday 29th July. This change affects around 10% of households in Monmouthshire and you will receive a letter detailing the changes if it affects you. If you do not receive a letter you are not affected by the changes (Most households are not having a collection day change).

The changes in March were delivered successfully to the majority of residents but access issues have resulted in some residents having recurring collection issues and impacted on service schedules for others. We are committed to delivering high quality services to all our residents and these further changes are necessary to achieve this.

We continually review and assess our service to ensure that we are as efficient as possible but understand that any changes in refuse and recycling collections can cause frustration for residents. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.

Will my waste collection days change?

If we have changed your collection day you will receive a letter detailing your new collection days. If you do not receive a letter your collection days are not changing and do not need to do anything (the majority of residents are not having a change of collection day).

Will all my collection days change?

Your letter will say if you have any collection day changes. Some households could have all their collection days changed or you may only have one collection day changed. Please read your letter for details.

I have received a letter but my collection days are the same?

Collection day change letters have been sent to all addresses that have a different collection day from Monday 29th July compared to the collection day they were given in March. You may have already been notified of a change to collection day and we apologise if you receive another letter. However we wanted to make sure all residents have been notified if their collection days have changed since March.

What time does my waste need to be out for collection?

Please ensure all you’re recycling and rubbish is out on the kerbside by 7.00am on the morning of collection. When collection days are changed the time of day that your waste is collected will also change so please put your waste out before 7.00am to ensure your waste is collected.

Do not place rubbish or recycling out any earlier than the evening before your collection is due.  This can result in unnecessary litter if your bags are ripped open.

My rubbish collection day is changing and I have to wait more than 2 weeks for collection?

A small number of households have a change to rubbish collection days which mean they won’t have a collection for over 2 weeks. In these circumstances residents are allowed to place out two extra bags (four in total) on their first new rubbish collection day. Residents who are affected by this will have an additional leaflet with their letter that explains they will have an extra allowance.

Any additional waste can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centres.

I have been having problems with missed collections, will this be fixed?

We have reviewed all our collection routes and we have made changes where there have been access issues. We are starting a new collection system from Monday 29th July and will investigate any collection issues that occur from Monday 29th July onwards.

If you have a missed collection from Monday 29th July please report it to us. You can report a missed collection on the My Monmouthshire app or website, call 01633 644644 or visit your local Community Hub. If you register on the “My Monmouthshire” system you will receive updates on your report.
