On 1st December 2025, Welsh Government is increasing planning application fees across Wales. This is a step towards Welsh local planning authorities achieving full cost recovery for their services.

It is very important to note that any current applications lodged with the planning authority that are ’invalid’ (i.e. they are awaiting essential information to ensure the application can then be registered and determined) will be subject to the new fees if the information to make the application valid is received on or after 1st December. If a fee has already been paid , this would involve having to pay the difference between the old and new fee.
