This is a genuine development role perfect for a legally educated, highly motivated individual who wishes to develop their knowledge and experience as part of an excellent and, frankly, lovely team of legal professionals. The role will have a focus on Children Services work, but will also feature exposure to Adult Services, Education and a range of Litigation matters as well as Employment and with access to the wider team’s responsibilities incorporating a range of Commercial matters.
The successful candidate will work for a team of Solicitors, principally carrying out legal work on their behalf and benefiting from our awesome legal support officers with whom you will get to work alongside to understand and deliver the fundamentals of Court preparation and delivery.
In this role you might be constructing a Case file one day and getting into the absolute detail of what that entails, in Court with one of the Lawyers on another day, or even as the sole legal representative instructing Counsel on another. You might be working with client departments to understand their need for legal support or attending a Council Committee to provide legal advice. You will get a good blend of autonomy, support, experience and training and you will relish the challenge that this brings.
You don’t need to be an experienced practitioner and you don’t need local government experience. What you do need is an incisive and enquiring legal mind, good communication skills and an attitude that makes you unafraid to take on new challenges or seek advice. You will be capable of providing detailed and nuanced legal advice in time, but always prepared to roll up your sleeves and tackle enormous case files in support of complex Court cases when necessary.
