Mill Common Champions are people who have come together to make a difference by helping to look after Mill Common; a cherished local woodland in the heart of Magor and Undy. The group welcome new members whether they can offer just an hour or two from time to time right through to regular organised group activities.

  • To be part of a community with similar interests
  • Make new friends
  • Help care for a precious and valued accessible woodland
  • Lean new skills and about the natural world

During 2025 and 2026, Mill Common underwent a major project to transform the woodland to enhance its ecological health, improve accessibility, and strengthening its value as a much-loved green space for the local community.

The project resulted in significant improvements to this important green corridor including the removal of trees affected by Ash dieback and planting new trees to increase the range of species growing there, the creation of new and improved paths, and the addition of a sculpture trail, interpretation boards and benches, making the most of its unique vantage point in Magor and Undy, enjoying the landscape of the Gwent Levels and Severn Estuary.

The Champions are a new dedicated volunteer group comprising local residents committed to help continue the care for the woodland and whose time, commitment and enthusiasm have been instrumental in bringing the restoration project to life.
