#BalanceForBetter

Monmouthshire County Council marked International Women’s Day on Friday 8th March with an event at Caldicot School for pupils from across all year groups.

A variety of speakers attended Caldicot School following a Facebook appeal asking local people to nominate women who inspire them – 101 comments were received with some amazing examples of the difference that women make in their communities every day.

Pupils heard from a range of inspirational speakers including, Chloe-Beth Morgan-James, Irene Cameron, Andrea Rodley and Elaine Theaker.

The theme of the event around the world was #BalanceForBetter:

“The future is exciting. Let’s build a gender-balanced world.

Everyone has a part to play – all the time, everywhere.

From grassroots activism to worldwide action, we are entering an exciting period of history where the world expects balance. We notice its absence and celebrate its presence.

Balance drives a better working world. Let’s all help create a #BalanceforBetter.”
