Any report of suspected child abuse is treated seriously. It is seen as a priority for prompt action and help.

We believe that all children and young people in Monmouthshire have the right to be safe from harm and deserve the opportunity to fulfil their potential. We recognise our responsibilities in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, including the contribution we make to working together with other agencies to ensure the well-being of the children in the county. Please view our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.

South East Wales Safeguarding Children Board (SEWSCB) brings together representatives from the main agencies and professionals who are responsible for helping to protect children from abuse and neglect across Gwent. Monmouthshire is a key partner of the board.

You can visit the regional safeguarding children website for further information about all safeguarding matters. The All Wales Child Protection Procedures are located on this website.
