Alma Colthart

Spanish Tutor

I am a Mexican living in Chepstow, Wales; for more than 3 years.
I love travelling to different places of the world and to know different cultures and people. I love cooking and in my practical classes I include some recipes to cook Mexican, Spanish and vegetarian food. As a traveller I know the importance of knowing another language and especially Spanish, which is actually the second most spoken language in the world.
I worked for more than 20 years as a manager, participating in conferences and training workshops. I have been the Spanish Tutor for the Chepstow Community Learning since 2016.
and a volunteer tutor for the U3A in Chepstow, also giving private classes to groups of children.
I am an empathic person that besides using organized teaching with different learning techniques and resources, such as: short films, videos, games, reading comprehension, etc. I specialize in adapting to the different learning models of each student, as well as knowing what their specific needs are, their tastes and interests and their objectives in learning the language. Each session is designed to encourage the student to start speaking from the first day, practising all the techniques to improve their pronunciation, vocabulary, reading, writing and comprehension.
For me it is very important not only to teach the language but also the general knowledge of the Spanish-speaking cultures; such as: ideology, history, music, gastronomy, tourist sites, art, customs and city life. Each session is special and takes place in an entertaining, fun and trustful environment
