MEET THE TUTOR: Emma Rhydderch Price

“I have been teaching different levels of Art for over twenty five years, I’ve taught in schools, colleges and adult education.

I am a qualified fine art lecturer and professional artist. My degree in Fine Arts was undertaken with Professor Terry Shave. I completed a PGCE in Education at Cardiff University, a qualification that enabled me to teach Art from GCSE to Degree level.

I have exhibited paintings in solo and mixed shows, selling work locally and in Cardiff. In Cardiff I worked on a gallery committee with Artist Tony Goble and other artists which was rewarding and inspirational.

I am still enthusiastically teaching new skills to students and love passing on my practical and theoretical expertise to those that I teach.

I teach a variety of different classes from beginners to advanced courses and workshops in Abergavenny and Usk, covering different media such as watercolour, acrylics, portraits and mixed media courses.

I enjoy seeing the student’s creative work, the diverse creative and technical skills they develop through their learning at Monmouthshire Community Learning.

I was delighted to be nominated as Tutor of the Year by my learners who attended courses at the Usk Community Hub.  I then went on be awarded this title of ‘Monmouthshire Tutor of the Year’ in 2017 which was a proud moment in my career.

We arrange different art exhibitions throughout the year, where we invite our learners to exhibit. It’s really rewarding to see the learner’s artwork on display and hearing the wonderful comments about the work they have created. ”
