People of all ages from across Monmouthshire are being invited to share their views on Monmouthshire County Council’s draft Welsh Language Strategy 2027-2032.

The Let’s Talk Welsh Language consultation, which runs from Monday, 5 October, until Monday, 30 November, provides an opportunity for people across the county to share their experiences of the Welsh language. It also sets out how the council proposes delivering bilingual services and working with Welsh speakers, learners and communities in Monmouthshire during the coming five-year period.

To make it easy for people to take part, the draft strategy is available both as a full document and as a summary version, allowing residents to choose the level of detail that suits them.

Cllr Angela Sandles, Monmouthshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Equalities and Engagement, said: “We want to hear from as many people as possible. Whether Welsh is part of your daily life, you’re learning the language, or you simply have views on how the council provides bilingual services, your feedback is important. This consultation is an opportunity to help shape our approach and ensure it reflects the needs and experiences of communities across Monmouthshire.”

All the information and survey is also available through the council’s Welsh language engagement platform www.sgwrsioamsirfynwy.co.uk/y-gymraeg

Paper copies of the survey will be available at our community hubs in Abergavenny, Caldicot, Chepstow, Gilwern, Magor, Monmouth and Usk.

Feedback received during the consultation will help inform the final Welsh Language Strategy before it is considered for adoption
