Monmouthshire County Council brought the community spirit to Usk recently as part of the International Family Fun Day.

The sun was shining as families, visitors and residents made their way to the Memorial Hall and Owain Glyndwr Park in Usk on Friday, 29 May.

The International Family Fun Day brought colour and energy the park and was organised in partnership with Foster Wales Monmouthshire initiative.

Families gathered with picnics to enjoy Jitterbug circus skills, a vibrant Danceblast performance, the ever‑popular face painting, lively drumming sessions and a host of free activities.

There was music and food on offer from a global array of cultures.

The day celebrated community, culture, creativity and the importance of fostering.

Cllr Ian Chandler,Cabinet Member for Social Care, Safeguarding and Accessible Health Services, said: “It was wonderful to see so many families and residents enjoying the free event in the sunshine last week.

“It’s always nice to see people coming together, especially when it is to raise awareness of such a vitally important issue such as fostering.

“I would urge anyone who is able and interested to find more information about fostering in Monmouthshire.”
