Monmouthshire County Council has published a new achievements update, showcasing progress delivered in partnership with communities, businesses and local organisations.

The update sets out how the council is working together with partners to build a fairer, greener and more resilient county, tackling inequality, supporting families, and driving forward action on the climate and nature emergency.

Key achievements include the rollout of universal free school meals for primary pupils, increased holiday support for families, and continued investment in affordable housing, all delivered through close collaboration with schools, community groups and regional partners. Progress has also been made in strengthening town centres, expanding access to education and skills, and improving community safety.

Partnership working is central to the council’s approach to climate action, with joint efforts increasing renewable energy use, expanding active travel routes, reducing waste, and supporting river health and nature recovery.

Leader of Monmouthshire County Council, Cllr Mary Ann Brocklesby, said: “This update shows what we can achieve by working together. Whether with residents, partners or our communities, collaboration is at the heart of our success.

“Despite significant challenges, we are delivering on our commitments and making a real difference to people’s lives. By continuing to work in partnership, we can go further – improving services, tackling inequality, and responding to the climate and nature emergency in a way that is fair, sustainable and long-term.”

The achievements report will be updated regularly over the coming year, reflecting the council’s commitment to transparency, collaboration and continuous improvement.
