Monmouthshire County Council wants to hear from young people across the county who use their local library.

In our newly-launched Let’s Talk Libraries: Young People’s Survey we’re looking for feedback from those aged 8–16 on what they like, what could be improved, and what they’d love to see in the future. If they visit their local library to read, study with friends, join in activities, or spend time there, we want to hear from them.

Libraries play a vital role in supporting literacy, encouraging a life-long love of reading, and helping children and young people build skills that support learning and success throughout life.

Their ideas can help make our libraries even better, improving the spaces, books, resources, activities and events for young people in Monmouthshire.

The survey takes just a few minutes to complete and doesn’t ask for any personal information.

The survey will run for two weeks, starting on Monday, 16 March.

Young people visiting a local library will be invited to complete the quick, easy, and confidential online survey, which will also be available on paper.

Responses will be reviewed by the library service team and used to help plan future stock, spaces and activities.

Monmouthshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Equalities and Engagement, Cllr Angela Sandles, said: “Our libraries are welcoming places where young people can read for pleasure, study, try something new and spend time with friends. We want to make sure our libraries continue to reflect what matters to them, from the books on the shelves to the activities and events on offer.

If you’re aged 8–16, please take a few minutes to complete the Let’s Talk Libraries: Young People’s Survey and help shape what happens next.”
