Residents aged 50 and over are being invited to attend two upcoming wellbeing events that will highlight the wide range of services, activities and support available across the county.
These events are part of Monmouthshire’s ongoing commitment to being an Age-Friendly community. This commitment follows the county’s inclusion in the World Health Organization’s Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities in July 2025.
Both events will be presented in a marketplace-style format, enabling attendees to interact directly with organisations, access information and resources, and discover services they may not have previously known about.
Event details
- 10am to 2pm, Thursday, 19 March 2026 – Abergavenny Market Hall, 61 Cross Street, Abergavenny, NP7 5HD
- 10am to 2pm, Thursday, 23 April 2026 – The Palmer Centre, Cormeilles Square, Chepstow, NP16 5LH
Events are open to all ages, with a focus on supporting Monmouthshire’s population aged 50 and over, promoting wellbeing, independence, and community connection.
Councillor Ian Chandler, Cabinet Member for Social Care, Safeguarding and Accessible Health Services, said: “These wellbeing events are about making sure people know what support is available in their local communities and feel confident accessing it. By bringing services and organisations together in one place, we’re helping residents make connections, find information that’s relevant to them, and support their health and wellbeing as part of our wider commitment to being an Age‑Friendly Monmouthshire.”
A range of organisations have already confirmed their attendance, including Age Cymru, Care & Repair, Abergavenny 50+, Warm Wales, Gwent Dementia Friendly Communities, Chepstow U3A, the ABUHB Engagement Team, South Wales Police (Fraud Awareness), Bowel Cancer UK, Fast Track Gwent, and the Alzheimer’s Society, with more expected to join.
