As the festive period draws closer, shoppers are being encouraged to make the most of Monmouthshire’s fantastic local shops and free parking.

The council has once again announced it will provide free weekend parking in all Council-owned car parks in Abergavenny, Chepstow and Monmouth in the run up to Christmas.  This is in addition to the year-round free car parking in Caldicot, Usk and many smaller communities.

It’s hoped the free parking will encourage more people to head down to their local high street to take advantage of the fantastic array of local businesses selling everything from handmade gifts to locally sourced produce all in time for the big day.

The free parking offer also means a welcome boost for local businesses at this busy time of year.

Free Saturday parking will be provided in the three towns on 7th, 14th and 21st December.

Chief Executive, Paul Matthews said: “We’re pleased to once again offer free parking to our residents. This is the perfect opportunity to visit your local retailers and I have no doubt you’ll be surprised with all the fantastic bargains you can get right on your doorstep. This is also a great opportunity to support your friends and neighbours who run businesses across the county.”
