There are some significant changes to Benefit administration in Monmouthshire for working age people from June 27. As part of a national roll out the full service of Universal Credit is being introduced here. This means that most new claims for six legacy benefits (Housing Benefit, Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Income Support, income based Jobseekers Allowance and income related Employment and Support Allowance) will become part of Universal Credit from this date and be administered by the Department for Work and Pensions. In such cases Housing Benefit will no longer be administered by the Council.
