The project to replace Monmouth Leisure Centre means that the site will close from Wednesday 15th November while a £7.5m replacement building is constructed.  Meanwhile, customers will have access to a temporary sports hall on the leisure centre site to accommodate school and community bookings while a temporary gym at the Old Market Hall, next door to the town’s museum, will offer a range of fitness equipment and exercise classes.

The temporary sports hall and the temporary gym open on Monday 20th November.

Construction works for the new leisure centre also start on Monday 20th November and the project will be completed in two phases.  All first floor works including the new play area and cafe are scheduled to be ready in June 2018 while the completion of the second phase – the swimming pool and health suite – is scheduled for November 2018.  Included within the project are a new 25 metre swimming pool with viewing area, a children’s indoor play centre and a health suite with steam, sauna and jacuzzi as well as a designated spin studio.  In addition, the new facilities will feature an open plan café, a large state-of-art gym, a treatment room and multi-purpose meeting room.

Councillor Bob Greenland, Monmouthshire’s cabinet member with responsibility for leisure said: “I’m very much looking forward to a new leisure centre which will contribute towards the delivery of a healthy and active life for the residents of Monmouth and area.  I hope that when people experience the new facilities they’ll consider they’ve been well worth the wait!”

  • Monday – 6.30am to 9pm
  • Tuesday – 8am to 9pm
