A meeting of Monmouthshire County Council’s Lower Wye Valley Area Committee takes place at 10am on Wednesday 14th June within Chepstow Leisure Centre’s café and the public are invited to participate in an open forum to discuss matters of interest.  In addition, they will be able to observe discussions on local transport issues, Severn Bridge tolls and strategies to involve the public in the committee’s operations.

The Lower Wye Valley Area Committee is just one of Monmouthshire’s area committees, all of which meet on a quarterly basis.  The others are the Bryn-y Cwm, Central Monmouthshire and Severnside area committees.  Area committees help the council shape major proposals affecting the area, coordinate services on a local level, advise on implications of the council’s objectives, plans and policies and encourage effective collaboration with public, private and voluntary sector partners to help the council meet the aspirations of the local community.

Further meetings of the Lower Wye Valley Area Committee take place on 20th September, 17th January 2018 and 25th April 2018. All meetings start at 10am and members of the public who wish to attend should check the location before setting out as the committee meets at different venues within the area. The agenda is made available on Monmouthshire County Council’s website a week before each meeting.

Council Leader Peter Fox said: “We encourage residents to attend area committees, participate in a forum that receives the opinions of local communities and view discussions and debate on matters of particular relevance to them.”
