Governor Training

The authority provides a range of training and development opportunities for governors, including a range of courses, an annual conference and a resource library. All governors are encouraged to attend governor training courses. Details of the courses taking place this academic year can be accessed using the link to the Governor Training Programme.

However, If you wish to recieve a copy of the latest Governor Training Programme 2008-09 by post, please contact the Governor Services Support Team either by phone, 01633 644529, or email governorservices@monmouthshire.gov.uk.

Training is a great way of improving your knowledge and gaining valuable skills. It also enables you to carry out your duties as a School Governor effectively to improve outcomes for children and young people. Many of the courses provided have the added benefit of providing transferable skills that can be utilised beyond the school environment.

To book a place on any of the courses, please complete the Governor Training Booking Form online.

A Spring Conference for governors is organised annually that provides  a highly valued networking opportunity which encourages the sharing of good practice and an opportunity for informed discussion on current educational issues.

The resource library is based at County Hall but items can be ordered through any of Monmouthshire's six libraries or mobile libraries free of charge. They can also be picked up and returned via the library without charge.
