Fortnightly Refuse Collections
The Fortnightly Collection Service
From July this year, parts of south Monmouthshire namely Magor, Undy and some surrounding areas will be moving to a fortnightly refuse collection service. All households in this area will have received an explanatory leaflet with a collection calendar and two rolls of kitchen caddy liners. Gradually, the fortnightly collection scheme will be phased in across the whole of the county.
This change is part of a new initiative aiming to encourage you to recycle more of the waste produced from your household.
The areas we have selected to start the scheme already have well established recycling collections. If used to their full potential you can recycle at least 60% of your waste. This means a huge reduction in the waste thrown away every day and less going to landfill sites.
Will this change effect my recycling collections?
The red and purple bag, garden waste and food waste recycling collections will remain the same in all areas of Monmouthshire, being collected on a weekly basis except on Bank Holidays where they take place one day later.
