Wye Valley artist launches exhibition room at Chepstow TIC

Llandogo-based painter Pat Yallup contacted staff at the tourist information centre within days of the completion of a refurbishment project which saw the exhibition room refitted as a venue for showcasing the work of local artists and craftspeople.

Pat Yallup has been painting in the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean since 1973, having exhibited local scenes in her own gallery as well as in Cheltenham, London and New York . Her watercolour painting classes take place at her studio at Llandogo, in the heart of the region which has inspired her work for almost forty years.

Kate Burton, TIC Supervisor, said:

"Hosting exhibitions such as this helps us give visitors a real sense of place when visiting the TIC.

"We hope that after seeing the landscapes depicted in Pat's paintings, visitors will be inspired to visit the real life locations up and down the Wye Valley .

"Also, by giving visitors the chance to buy work by local artists, we're able to showcase the creative talents of the area and support the local economy."
