Intergenerational Work in Monmouthshire
You may not get the First Minister to take part in your project, but you can make a BIG difference to your community...
Intergenerational work is about bringing the generations together to take part in joint meaningful activities. It is about strengthening communities and challenging stereotypes, and Monmouthshire is leading the way in developing exciting new projects in this area of work.
Across the county older and younger people are coming together to take part in a range of activities including knitting, cooking, storytelling, dancing, gardening, and even building! Why not get involved in your community?
As part of the Strategy for Older People, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, Monmouthshire has an Inter Generational project officer who is available to help groups who want to start an IG project. Funding, training and development support are all available. There is a DVD of previous Monmouthshire projects available if you need inspiration, as well as an annual IG awards ceremony to motivate you. Finally, there is a regular newsletter to keep you informed of what is going on across the county.
If you've any other questions about IG work, or you would like to receive our newsletter, or have a copy of our DVD ' Now You See Me' then contact our Inter Generational worker, on 01633 644641, or request more information.
