The One Planet Centre

The One Planet Centre, Llanfoist

Monmouthshire County Council's One Planet Centre is a purpose-built education centre at the Llanfoist Household Waste Recycling Centre, on the outskirts of Abergavenny.

At the Centre, we aim to offer children and adults the opportunity to gain a better understanding of 'One Planet Living' through rubbish, re-use and recycling.

The One Planet Centre can accommodate small groups of around 30 children or adults on pre-booked visits.  Please contact your Recycling Team on 01633 644126.

The visit normally lasts one hour and thirty minutes which combines an escorted tour of the site with an interactive session inside the Centre.

The Centre has a range of hands-on exhibits that allow children to explore and understand the consequences of producing too much rubbish.

One Planet Living and sustainable development are ideas that are explained and discussed according to the age and interests of the group.

Safety is at the heart of everything we do at the One Planet Centre and therefore parties must book at least one month ahead of their visit.

This will allow time for a teacher or school representative to visit the site and run through essential health and safety information with one of the Waste Education Officers.

The official opening of our One Planet Centre took place on the 10th October 2011 by John Griffiths, Minister for Environment and Sustainable Development joined by pupils from Llanfoist Primary School.
