Welcome Monmouthshire
Championing the county's appeal as a year-round holiday or short-break destination, this sustainable tourism programme aims to win more visitors and turn them into advocates for the area. Visitor satisfaction will be increased by focussing on quality, distinctiveness, and authenticity, capitalising on the county's culture, traditions and beautiful rural environment.
The project was launched on 8th June 2011 at Caldicot Castle alongside other RDP projects. See the interview with the Welcome Monmouthshire Project Officer recorded live at the event.
Planned activities include the development of:
- Circular routes off the Usk Valley Walk and Coastal Path where there is maximum potential benefit for communities.
- Community-led river interpretation, signposting and access.
- Improvements to sustainable transport information and provision.
- Support for towns and villages to improve their visitor signage.
- Support for businesses to develop new digital tourism networks.
