Birth, Death, Marriage and Civil Partnership certificates

Usk Register Office holds records of births, deaths, and marriages for the County of Monmouthshire from July 1837 to the present. We also hold all the Civil Partnership records for Monmouthshire Registration authority.

Anyone can apply for a certificate as long as they can provide the relevant information, by:

  • In person     at the Register Office, Monmouthshire County Council,                                           Rhadyr,Usk, NP15 1GA
  • Post                to the address above

The fee for a certificate is £11 using our standard 7 day service however if you wish to use our priority same day service the fee is £35. You may pay by Cash, Credit or Debit card or by postal order made payable to Monmouthshire County Council

If you call at the office with full and accurate information of the event, we aim to provide the certificate within 20 minutes. The priority fee of £35 would then apply.

If you apply over the phone using a debit or credit card, we will post your certificate first class on the day of application

If you email or write we aim to respond within three working days of receiving your application.

Certificates for family history

In cases which require extended searching, we are not always able to provide a same day service for family history certificates. It is advisable to email the office in the first instance to registeroffice@monmouthshire.gov.uk  to make sure we have the entry before applying for the certificate

We will accept postal applications with a postal order or debit card details and a daytime telephone number.

We will endeavour to contact you with the results of our search within one week of your application being submitted.
