Volunteers needed to join Abergavenny blitz on invasive Himalayan Balsam

Volunteers are needed to join a follow up to last year's blitz on balsam at the Castle Meadows in Abergavenny. Keep Wales Tidy in collaboration with Victoria Street Neighbourhood Watch and MCC Countryside Section will again be running a series of sessions to tackle the invasive alien plant Himalayan Balsam.

A PONTYPOOL woman is set to raise money for the Ken Jones appeal in memory of the local Olympiad's sporting achievements, after an exercise regime helped her shed two dress sizes. When the Olympic flame comes through Pontypool on May 25, Rose Matthews, Community worker at Melin Homes, will be joined by Cerys Hopkins from Curves who has helped her to send the pounds packing through regular exercise.
