How you can help yourself and your family
Now
Make sure you are adequately insured.
If you live in a flood risk area do what you can now to prepare for a flood. Don't wait until it happens, you may not have time. Complete your personal flood plan now.
In An Emergency
If you are notified of an emergency by the Emergency Services follow the advice you are given. You may be told to:

Stay indoors & close doors, windows, kitchen fans etc.

Listen to local radio for further information

Keep telephone calls to a minimum to avoid overloading the system

Evacuate (see below)
Evacuation
If you are advised to evacuate:
- Respond to instructions from the Emergency Services
- Use whatever transport is made available
- Report to any named location where further advice will be available
- Use the check list below
Check List
- Get together family and pets
- Make sure you have warm clothing
- Get together any special food for babies and medicines in use
- Make sure fires, cookers, TV's etc. are turned off
