Tintern Old Station Voted the Nation's Favourite Park!
Time for a Knee's Up!
Crack out the champagne (and put it in a picnic basket of course!) for Tintern Old Station has been voted the Nation's Favourite Park in the Green Flag 'People's Choice Awards'. Capturing almost 20% of the total vote, the Old Station beat over 1,000 other parks and recreational areas to the award. This is great recognition for all the hard work the staff at the Old Station and the people at Monmouthshire Countryside Services put in to make the attraction the fantastic and welcoming place it is.
I popped over during the summer, and whilst I couldn't persuade one of the children there to let me push in the queue for the miniature railway, I did have some great cake (carrot I believe). I managed to work the cake off on a walk up the 365 winding and scenic steps to the Eagle's Nest (a great vantage point out over the Wye Valley). We are really lucky to live in such a fantastic area!
If you fancy popping along to the Old Station, remember that services are only open until the end of October so come down soon (maybe for the Tintern Michaemas Festival? - 23rd Sept - Oct 2nd).
So a big thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and especially everyone who consistently turns up to events (or just for a relaxing time in the sun). Feel free to pop any memories, experiences, well wishing etc in the comments below!

29 September 2011
It's a while since we've been up the Wye Valley so a good time to revisit. I seem to recall reading that there is a threatened pub closure in the town, not sure of the name of the pub. But must investigate. We've had some very pleasant Sunday's wandering around taking some photographs and spreading the word.
