The community strategy itself is a countywide strategy, but it is not the whole picture. Supporting the community strategy are four 'area action plans', one for each area of Monmouthshire. They provide the area-focus and include projects and schemes based on the needs and wishes of each individual area.
Who is involved?
The draft community strategy we have so far has been developed by the Monmouthshire Local Strategic Partnership - or the 'LSP'. The LSP is made up of people from different sectors, areas and interests across Monmouthshire - from public to voluntary and from health to economic development.
Monmouthshire County Council has a legal duty to lead the development of a community strategy, but it must work alongside other organisations to do this. The LSP is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the community strategy - or in other words, making things happen that improve our county.
How can I give my views and get involved?
We are now consulting as many people as possible on the draft community strategy. It will not work unless people and organisations in Monmouthshire can relate to it and support it. So this is your opportunity to shape it!
