Does the Authority have a wheeled bin service? Monmouthshire Council does not currently operate a wheeled bin service for domestic properties.
How do I get rid of bulky household items? They can be collected for a small charge. The costs are:
£3.00 for one item
£3.55 for two items
£4.25 for three items
The exception is fridges that are charged at £3.00 each.
You will need to visit your local 'One Stop Shop' to arrange payment prior to collection. Five working days notice is normally required. After payment the bulky items will have to be placed on the kerbside along side your household waste on your normal refuse collection day where the refuse collectors will pick them up.
Fridges will also have to be placed on the kerbside and are collected separately from the household waste.
Can I take bulky household items to my local Civic Amenity Site? Yes. Although for certain items there will be a charge. Contact 01633 644126 /7/8 for details of what items can be deposited for free and which are chargeable. Chargeable items will need to be weighed in over the weighbridge*. If you intend to use a large trailer or a van to deposit domestic waste at the sites you will need to pre-book prior to using the site usually giving 4 days notice. Contact one of the above numbers for more information.

If you are elderly or infirm you can apply to have your waste picked up from your front or backdoor which ever is the most convenient. However, before we can start this service you will need to provide us with a letter from your doctor supporting your application.
Does the Authority provide any other special collections? Yes. We co-ordinate with the NHS Cymru Wales by providing a free weekly clinical waste collection service for home dialysis patients and other sources.
