Monmouthshire's Inclusive events and accessible information - good practice guide contains guidance on helping to ensure that events and meetings are not excluding any groups or individuals from attending and participating.
Although originally produced for council employees involved in organising events and meetings, the guidance can also be used by those organising events outside of the council.
The guide also helps identify any barriers that may be restricting the inclusion of certain groups, in terms of venues used, facilities offered and the way that information about the event is provided. The guide is split into two parts: Organising inclusive events - code of practice; and Writing for the public - good practice guidelines. Organising inclusive events consists of a series of checklists and should be consulted before you start to organise your meeting or event. You may find that you are doing a lot of the things it lists already, but equally you may find that you are unintentionally excluding certain groups from participating (such as disabled people) due to overlooking specific issues. Writing for the public - good practice guidelines includes information on the importance of: clear print guidelines; producing information in alternative formats; and organising translation into Welsh or other languages.
