CASUAL VACANCIES

If during the four year term of a Town/Community Council, a casual vacancy occurs because a member resigns, is disqualified etc a Notice of Vacancy is published. If electors from the area where the vacancy has occured request it, an election takes place. The request must come from ten electors from the ward concerned. If the Returning Officer does not receive a request the Town/Community Council may co-opt a replacement.
