Monmouthshire County Council and Newport City Council's jointly appointed Coastal Access Improvement Officer ("Coastal Ways Officer") would like to know your views, knowledge and ideas about paths near the coast .

Consultation days for the public about the coastal ways project are:

  • Tuesday 16th October, 11am to 6pm at Caldicot Library
  • Tuesday 30th October, 11am to 6pm at Chepstow Library
  • Tuesday 13th November, 11am to 6pm at Bellevue Conservatory, Newport

Anyone is welcome to attend to share information or to learn more about the plan and to have a chance to win an Ordnance Survey Map.

At the consultation day held at Magor earlier this month, there was a great level of interest. The winner of the prize draw for a map of the Magor area was Verity Taylor of Chepstow.

The Wales Coastal Access Improvement Programme is a scheme funded by the Welsh Assembly Government to deliver its commitment to increase public access to the coast of Wales.

The scheme aims to improve access for local communities and for visitors to Wales through improvements to existing footpaths and routes to the coast, together with the development of new and improved links and circular routes.

Monmouthshire and Newport will benefit as the project plans to deliver coastal access improvements in a 2 km band along 45kms of coast from Chepstow to the outskirts of Cardiff. This will involve working in partnership with Cardiff City Council.

If you are unable to attend but would like to comment please write to:
