The Wales Coastal Access Improvement Programme is a scheme funded by the Welsh Assembly Government to deliver its commitment to increase public access to the coast of Wales.
The scheme aims to improve access for local communities and for visitors to Wales through improvements to existing footpaths and routes to the coast, together with the development of new and improved links and circular routes.
Monmouthshire and Newport will benefit as the project plans to deliver coastal access improvements in a 2 km band along 45kms of coast from Chepstow to the outskirts of Cardiff. This will involve working in partnership with Cardiff City Council.
