Monmouthshire’s libraries will change their opening hours from 9th July 2007

From the 9th July the opening times will now be:

Monmouth Library

MONDAY  9.00 – 5.30
TUESDAY  10.00 – 7.00
WEDNESDAY  CLOSED
THURSDAY            9.00 – 7.00
FRIDAY   9.00 – 5.30
SATURDAY   9.00 – 1.00

Abergavenny Library

MONDAY  CLOSED
TUESDAY  10.00 – 7.00
WEDNESDAY  9.00 – 5.30
THURSDAY             9.00 – 7.00
FRIDAY   9.00 – 5.30
SATURDAY  9.00 – 1.00

Caldicot Library

MONDAY  9.00 – 1.00
TUESDAY  9.00 – 7.00
WEDNESDAY  9.30 – 5.30
THURSDAY          9.00 – 7.00
FRIDAY   9.00 – 1.00
SATURDAY   9.00 – 1.00

Chepstow Library

MONDAY  9.00 – 5.30
TUESDAY  10.00 – 7.00
WEDNESDAY  CLOSED
THURSDAY             9.00 – 7.00
FRIDAY   9.00 – 5.30
SATURDAY   9.00 – 1.00

Usk and Gilwern libraries opening hours will remain the same.

Gilwern

Tuesday: 10.00 - 1.00 & 2.00 - 6.30
Friday:  2.00 - 5.30
Saturday: 10.00 - 1.00

Usk

Tuesday: 9.30 - 5.30
Thursday: 9.30 - 7.00
Friday: 9.00 - 5.30
Saturday: 9.30 - 1.00

These changes are part of a wider range of budget savings which unfortunately means that each of the 4 main libraries will be closed for a full day in each week from 9th July. 

Cabinet Member for Community Learning, Leisure and Culture, Liz Hacket-Pain, said, “This has been a difficult process for us.  We have chosen to close the libraries on our quieter days to keep disruption to a minimum.”

“We have done our best to protect the Libraries Service and even though we have had to reduce opening hours in some cases, we have a very high quality service in Monmouthshire.  Every citizen in Monmouthshire has access to excellent, learning and leisure facilities.”
