Caldicot Castle has a romantic and colourful history and one way of finding out about its past is with an audio tour or just explore the medieval towers and take in the breath-taking views from the battlements. Enjoy a leisurely game of chess or drafts, using giant playing pieces, or relax in the gardens and grounds. The Children's Activity Station includes puzzles and games, tree and leaf identification, draw your own shields and armour and the chance to make a castle to take home. Find out about footwear in the past with the Shoes Through Time activity and try on a selection of shoes copied from original historical examples. From medieval slippers and a Tudor buckle shoe, to a shoe from the time of the English Civil War and a Victorian ladies' ankle boot, this activity lets you step back in time. Outwit your opponent in Four in a Row the giant game of strategy for two teams or players.

The Castle Shop stocks a range of high quality gifts, books, toys and souvenirs and the Tea Room serves light refreshments. The Country Park offers picnic tables, barbecue hearths and countryside walks. An active programme of events and activities runs throughout the year. The site offers free parking and toilets and group and educational bookings are welcomed.
