What is an Older People's Champion ? It's someone who makes sure that the issues that are of concern to older people get addressed at a senior level. As part of the Strategy for Older People, every local authority was required to designate an elected member (a councilllor) to be the  "Older People's Champion". Their role is to advocate for the views, needs and preferences of older people. To do this effectively they need to develop ways of engaging with older people across the County, so that they can hear at first hand the issues that are concerning them.  images
