What type of defects should I report ?
- Potholes - either in the road or on the footway
- Footway Trips & Rocking paving flags
- Missing covers off drains & manholes
- Obstructions of the footway
- Damaged or missing fences and barriers
- Walls that look in danger of collapsing
- Overgrown verges, hedges & trees
- Spillages particularly oil or petrol
How do I report highway defects ?

What Information do I need to pass on ?
- Street name and area
- Location on street i.e. is it near a house number or a road junction
- Highway component affected - road, pavement, fence etc.
- Type and severity of the defect e.g. pothole, 4 inches deep
- Your name and contact number
- Whether you need to be kept informed or not
What happens next ?
Reports of Highway defects are passed on to our Highway Inspectors who will :
- visit the site
- determine whether the defect is the Authority's responsibility
- assess the defect for severity
- decide upon an appropriate course of action
