At each stage of the Development Plan process the Team have carried out public consultation to guage the views of all those participating and to help us improve our service.
At the beginning of the process a series of manned exhibitions were held between January and March 1999 in every Town and Community Council area in the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) area with a total of 2,517 people attending. Meetings/Seminars were also held to explain the UDP proposals to the majority of the Town and Community Councils and economic, social, environmental and disabled people's interest groups.
At the next stage of the process following the period of deposit for the Proposed Pre-Inquiry Changes in December 2003 and the Council's response, a satisfaction survey was sent to all those who had made a representation to either the Deposit UDP or the Proposed Pre-Inquiry Changes. The responses to this satisfaction survey were summarised in a report which was sent to all respondents with a list of actions the Development Plan Team would undertake to improve their service.
When the next stage in the process was complete, the Public Local Inquiry,we again repeated this exercise by sending a satisfaction survey to all those people who either appeared at the Inquiry, submitted a Written Representation or relied on their Original Representation. The results of this survey were posted on our website and a summary report sent to all those who participated.
Now that the Monmouthshire Unitary Development Plan is adopted we wanted to find out the views of all those who had participated in the process. As work on the Local Development Plan (LDP) begins we wanted to find out how easy people found the process and whether they felt they were kept well informed. It is also important for us to know how people would like to be consulted in future and whether they would like to continue to be involved in future Development Plans. To this end we sent another Satisfaction Survey to all those people who had been involved in the Unitary Development Plan process. A summary report of the outcome of this consultation has been sent to all respondents, the full report is available via this link.
It is important to us to hear your views if we are to continue to improve our service and make it easier for you to have your say when we reach the next stage of the process.
