The Local Biodiversity Action Plan is composed of three parts:

Part A   Framework
Part B   Action Plans
Part C   Supplementary Planning Guidance

Click here to download the Local Biodiversity Action Plan from the Biodiversity Partnership web site, or contact us for details of how to obtain a printed copy when it is available.

Part A Biodiversity Framework

This details the importance of biodiversity.  It directs members of the public to information about living sustainably and considering Biodiversity in every-day life.

Part B  Habitat and Species Action Plans

This contains specific background information, objectives and actions relating to priority habitats and species for Monmouthshire.  Currently the Priorities are Species Rich Grassland and Floodplain Pastures, Lapwing, Silver Washed Fritillary, Dormouse and Greater Butterfly Orchid. Further habitats and species will be added as plans are written.

Part C Planning Guidance

This provides guidance on the consideration of Biodiversity in the planning process.  It has been written for use by developers, development control officers at the Local Planning Authority and others involved in the planning process. Species and Habitat Advice Notes have been written to inform readers about the species and habitats most likely to be encountered during the planning process. This part was written in response to the requirement that Local Biodiversity Action Plans should be adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance to the Local Authority's Unitary Development Plan. The introduction section of Part C further explains the context of this guidance.
