Starting Primary School is one of the most important events in a child's life and as a parent / carer, you will no doubt have a wide range of questions regarding this transition.

Monmouthshire Local Education Authority understands this and likes to offer guidance to parents / carers at this time. We offer guidance to parents / carers of all newcomers to Primary Education in the form of a Starting Primary School Booklet. Applying for a Place

If you wish to apply for a place at a Monmouthshire Secondary School starting in September 2008 for your child and are a Monmouthshire resident (if you pay your council tax to Monmouthshire) you will need to contact:

or telephone the Unit using the numbers above and request an application form. When you apply we will need your child/ren's full name/s, date/s of birth and home address. The applications will need to be returned to the address above.

The Closing date for applications to be received by the Access Unit is 31st January 2008.

This does not mean that it is too late to apply for a place after this date. However, places starting at Primary School will be given to those who applied before this date in preference to those who apply after this date.

Applications received after 31st January 2008 will be batched by month in the month that they are received and places allocated in line with the Authority's over-subscription criteria.
